I love ginger tea in winter months-it is a great way to warm up! Ginger is also great for upset stomach, drippy head colds and wet gooey coughs.

Ginger Root can be found at almost all grocery stores in produce aisle. You do not have to peel the skin off for any of these recipes!

Here are a few fun and easy ways to drink or eat ginger:

Basic Tea

Simmer 8 oz  water and add 2-4 slices of fresh ginger root, depending on how strong you like it! Simmer 5 minutes and your tea is done! Add honey, lemon, or maple syrup.

Fun with Crystalized Ginger

Make a cup of your favorite beverage tea: green tea,  lemon balm, peppermint, chamomile, regular black tea, or any number of herb teas commonly found in grocery stores. Add a chunk of crystalized ginger, let it dissolve, and you have a nice kick to your tea! You can add as much as you want. There will be a little piece of ginger leftover at the bottom, which you can eat if you would like!

Gingered Honey

Slice up about 3-4 inches of fresh ginger root, add to 16 oz (2 cups) of honey. Once ginger settles, make sure air bubbles are gone.  Let it sit for 4 weeks. You can scoop it out and add to cups of tea, or even just hot water for a sweet and spicy drink. Even add to toast or oatmeal!
